Still, Still, Still (SATB, Piano)

When the Church announced the most recent batch of hymns, it included a favorite Christmas carol: Still, Still, Still. However, this arrangement had lyrics that were different than the more traditional English translation. I saw some comments online expressing disappointment with the change, but when I read the new words, I felt powerful confirmation that this was an inspired translation. I believe that these lyrics are more true to the original Austrian carol and point more directly to Jesus Christ and His atonement.
Even then, I wasn’t planning to write an arrangement of this hymn. I was just thinking of using the new lyrics to an existing arrangement for the choir to sing. But as I pondered the message, I felt impressed to switch to 6/8 time and gave it more of a music box feel. In my mind I envisioned a mother singing a lullaby to her child.
I used AI to generate the voices. They’re not perfect, but hopefully they are helpful for anyone looking for music to sing in church.
