Thou Gracious God, Whose Mercy Lends (SATB, Piano)

UPDATE: I recently updated this arrangement to add a little more. I just felt like it was missing something and the song was over too quick. So I added an interlude for the piano and improved the ending. Hope you like it!

I don’t think there will ever be a better arrangement of Thou Gracious God, Whose Mercy Lends than Mack Wilberg’s, especially as performed by The Tabernacle Choir. I loved singing it with a large choir once, but for many smaller congregations it just isn’t a possibility, as it is a challenging SSAATTBB.

When The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced that this hymn would now be included in their new hymn book, I felt like it would be perfect for Thanksgiving. But it needed to be a simpler arrangement. After a few days of pondering and inspiration, I was able to put this together and plan to have our choir sing it this year.

It doesn’t have the powerful, epic sound of Wilberg’s, but it is more of a prayerful, solemn feel. The AI generated voices don’t do it justice, but hopefully they give a feel for what it can sound like when a human choir infuses their voices and testimony together in praise to our Father in Heaven.
